WORLD GREATEST - MESSI AND RONALDO

Cristiano Ronaldo, a Portuguese footballer and striker for Real Madrid, and Lionel Messi, an Argentinean forward for Barcelona are two of the greatest footballers (soccer players) of our time. Ronaldo is the older of the two, has played in more games and scored more goals than Messi.

Lionel Messi won the Ballon d'Or for three years in a row from 2010 to 2012 but Ronaldo won the award for 2013, having scored 66 goals in 56 appearances for Real Madrid

Career low Losing to Greece in the final of Euro 2004 on home. Unable to perform to his best in the 2006 World Cup in Germany, where Argentina were eliminated in the quarter-finals with Messi looking on from the bench.
Strengths Ronaldo will take on any defender with searing pace, and mesmerising footwork to boot. His ability to beat a player and whip in crosses makes him a feared opponent. The way his free-kicks swerve with pace and power is a great asset to his team. His ball skills are second to none, his runs from midfield are usually lethal and he is almost impossible to tackle when he gets his head down. His balance when running at speed is incredible. Also his goal scoring ability is amazing.
Weaknesses On occasion, he goes to ground far too easily and sometimes tries a trick when a simple pass would do. Despite his scoring he sometimes messes up a goal scoring opportunity by doing fancy moves he is incapable of pulling off. Too often he searches for a way to finish moves by himself without looking for teammates in a better position to shoot at goal. His strength can be questioned at times when trying to finish close to the net and gets pushed off the ball too easily.
Trivia Cristiano's name Ronaldo came from his father's favourite actor, Ronald Reagan. His debut with the national team (against Hungary) was a disaster: he entered the game in the 18th minute of the second half, and 47 seconds later was sent of. Ironically he would move on to become one of the greatest football players of all time.

Seeds Of High Achievement

"What you sow, you reap." Sounds familiar? What about this "What you reap is what you sow".
Everything we achieve is as a result of the seeds we initially planted in our minds. Up until now, you are and you have been responsible for everything that's happened to you. Hard to swallow? But it is true. Your philosophy shapes your world. Philosophy can be formed from the music you listen to and all the way to the people you talk with.

I encourage people to have a *Bullshit Filter* guarding their minds. It's not everything you come across that you have to take in and believe. Know what works for you. Study great and successful people, and learn. Read books, listen to motivationals, meditate. Invest in your mind.

When I was young I did something wrong, I can't remember what I did wrong but I can remember the lesson I learnt from that wrong act. My mum sat me down (after spanking me of course) and told me something that I can never forget. It shaped my philosophy and my life. She said "Obinna, because somebody is older than you, it doesn't mean they are wiser." Chew that!

Invest in yourself. Learn to work harder on yourself. When you work hard on yourself you become more valuable  to the world and market place. Work on your attitude, work on your personality, work on your philosophy, work on the way you speak and the things you say.

I'm a nice guy and I'm happy to lend a helping hand to a person in need, but the truth is I am a man and my ability is limited. So let me take a take a page out of J.Cole's book "Sometimes I want to save the world and not be thinking about how." Thank God for the internet. Physically I can't share a lot but digitally.... You get my point. Information is vital, likewise education.

Success is something you attract by being an attractive person. Its not something you pursue. Realize you are the project and begin to work hard on yourself.

Real Recognize Real

"When we turn around & come face to face with our destiny, we discover that words (spoken) are not enough. I know so many people who are brilliant speakers but are quite incapable of practising what they preach. It's one thing to describe a situation & quite another to experience it.
I realised a long time ago that a warrior in search of his dream must take his inspiration from what he actually does & not from what he imagines himself doing.”
Paulo Coelho, Aleph

A good morning to you too. I've been really busy lately and  I'm learning how to manage my time wisely, so I'm writing this in a bus headed to work.

Everybody talks about being REAL. A brother calls another brother a REAL GUY, and they say 'real recognize real'. Allow me to share with you my philosophy of what REAL is.

Real has little to do with what you see or hear. The things we call real are mostly covered with a veneer of hyper-reality in which the appearance of objects are artificially intensified to make them appear more attractive. Most of us are attracted to objects of reality that are wrapped in pretty packages, smell nice, look nice, feel new and seem better than the real product hidden underneath. After a while we accept the facade as the real thing.

#OGA – Don't Blink on Karishika Part 2

“What time will you leave for work?” Kola asks his girlfriend over the phone. She has been ranting and talking endlessly but the young chap doesn’t mind, he’s even excited with the lengthy conversation he is having. He needs it to keep awake while David drives him home.

“Babe, hold on for a second” Kola pats David on his shoulders. “Drive slower bro so you don’t hit someone or something. Remember the headlights don’t work.” Kola cautions David and returns to his phone call. “I’m back. What were you saying?”

David has got the steering gripped tightly in his hands and his foot against the accelerator. Ade would have driven them home since this was his car but he had too much to drink and didn’t trust himself to drive home carefully in the middle of the night with busted headlights.

At least, let people be able to notice us. David thought as he turned on the caution lights. He’s engaged in a verbal debate with Ade about traveling overseas to obtain a Master’s degree.

“Do our universities and tertiary institutions promote themselves abroad and encourage foreign students to come to here and school, similar to how all these foreign universities encourage our student here to fly over there and study?”

Ade bursts into laughter “Abeg guy, don’t kill me. How that one want take happen?”

“But it’s a good suggestion; our institutions will be compelled to maintain a high level of education integrity and improve security.” David offers as he refocuses on the road ahead of him.

“Yes but still, would you like to come here and school if you were a British citizen? I don’t think so.” Ade thought about the question a second time and he couldn’t help but laugh a second time. With squinted eyes, opened mouth, and a rumble in his stomach he was just about to say something.

All of a sudden, they were gazing at an object so terrifying it paralyzed their bodies and reasoning. Time paused. Numbness spread through every body and every ounce of high or intoxication left in them dissolved instantly.

Ade was staring at a black mini-bus that had appeared out of the blues. He was watching it fly out of a corner just in front of him. The screech of brakes failing could be heard followed by a loud thump sound as the black bus hit the ground. The bus driver must have lost control of the brakes because in less than 3 seconds both vehicles would collide.

Shiiiiiiit! Ade thought. His world stopped. It seemed as though time paused because he was witnessing everything play out in slow motion, a second seemed like a minute. It was the longest seconds of his life. Pedestrians and street hawkers halted everything they were doing just to catch a glimpse of this scene.

Ade thought of his family, friends and he imagined a dozen ways this accident would play out.  He turned his gaze towards his friends, wishing he could do something to save them. Fear isn’t just the mind killer. It can actually kill the body as well. The notion of being scared to death had once sounded like a myth to him but right now he felt a helpless sensation he had not felt in years. Total despair. Powerless and defenseless. Like the cliché of one’s life passing before one’s eyes before death. In the final seconds before collision, he did not imagine rescue. He was not hallucinating the warm and comforting vision of hope.

David had made a snap decision. Snap judgments are first of all, enormously quick; they rely on the tiniest slice of experience. But they are also unconscious. David had hit the brakes and was now swerving the steering wheel to the left.

“Hello, hello… Kola, are you there?” Even Kola had dropped his phone and his jaw as he looked in awe at the horror movie playing out in front of him.

The sudden and abrupt change in direction of the steering wheel caused the car to veer off an impending collision course. Time resumed at normal speed and bodies became unfrozen.

Because of a snap decision and an instant action applied within a fraction of a second, these men could laugh, curse and give thanks again. Life never looked so precious.
“The blood of Jesus. Thank God.” David gasped
“The devil is a liar. See trouble o! Bad belles.” Ade exclaimed
“What just happened?” Kola asked, he had even forgotten his girl was still on the phone.
Everybody had something different to say. But one common thing they shared was appreciation. Everybody was grateful for life and for each other.

Love Yours

Love yours. There’s no such thing as a life that’s better than yours. I am lucky. No I am blessed. Last month I miraculously dodged what would have been a fatal car accident. This shit was real, a black mini-van that had faulty brakes jumped out from nowhere, in the middle of a busy road, in the night…. My car was in motion and directly in front of it. Gracefully, my friend driving swerved left in the last mini-second. Although the road was busy but luckily no one was near my car to get knocked down when we swerved. During the 5 seconds that this horror movie played out in front of me, I was terrified as fxxk.

Moments like this compel you to sit back, take a look at life and LOVE YOURS. Your heart beating fast lets you know that you’re alive. Life might not be easy but that doesn’t change the fact that life is a gift, and the best gift compared to everything else. It’s up to you to make the most out of your life. YOLO! The hustle is real and you are on the road to riches; life keeps you on that road. Use your life to touch the life of people you encounter on your journey. You might get knocked down a couple times and a couple more; but still… #YOLO.

Don’t look at people succeeding and envy their success. Appreciate yourself. Put in work on yourself; this industry is all about hard work and consistency. Turn your pain into profit and ask for strength from up above. In reality you might have less but compared to billions of people, you are blessed. Don’t be sleeping on your level, because there is beauty in the struggle. Appreciate what you have and the people you know. #HUSTLE #LOYALTY #RESPECT. Be your biggest fan because you aren’t going to be happy until you love yourself.

Here is a deep story I learnt from Wikipedia this afternoon

In Greek mythology, Narcissus was a Hunter from Thespiae in Boeotia who was known for his beauty. He was the son of the river god Cephissus and nymph Liriope. He was proud, in that he disdained those who loved him. Nemesis noticed this behavior and attracted Narcissus to a pool, where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image. Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus drowned. Narcissus is the origin of the term narcissism, a fixation with oneself and one's physical appearance.

Guy Figures Out Why His Laptop Has Been Acting Buggy

Lol. Don't trust what your laptop tells you. Open it and find out.

Increase your Productivity - Business Productivity Tools That Help

Starting up a business can be stressful and daunting, there are a lot of areas you need to monitor and a lot of things you need to do. CEO’s often refer to the startup phase as overwhelming. Do this, monitor that, go there; wouldn’t it be better if we could just split ourselves into many parts and handle everything. Now that would be being limitless. As a CEO you need to generate enough consumer interest in your products in order to succeed.

The following are free business productivity tool (I use a all of them) that are worth checking out should you find yourself strapped for much needed funding to keep your startup afloat.

IFTTT.com – this is short for ‘if this, then that’. Just as the name implies, this tool functions like an algorithm that allows you to specify operations based on conditions you set. It’s straight up and easy, you set up recipes on IFTTT.com and that’s it. For example, you can create a recipe that will automatically upload your Instagram pictures to your Facebook timeline.

Dropbox – is one of the best cloud storage service providers out there. Data can be accessed from anywhere and any device. Dropbox unlike some of its competitors is more focused on individual cloud storage. It allows file share, real time collaboration on documents, and you get free storage space on signing up, plus it gets better; anytime you refer someone to Dropbox you also get additional storage space and you also get additional storage space by liking their Facebook page and following their handle on Twitter. Click here to Join Dropbox

Bitrix24.com – is the fastest growing social intranet that’s free for businesses with 12 employees or less. It’s a combination of various work tools like file sharing, real-time streaming and CRM. As it’s based in the cloud, you can access your account and files from anywhere, whether it’s your PC or smartphone.

Facebook Pages – Your Facebook business page can generate a lot of leads for your business if properly managed and especially if interaction is encouraged. Facebook pages is an app which you can download on the app store for your smartphones. it allows you to monitor, boost and schedule posts, it keeps you notified and encourages you to keep on interacting with fans. You can use it to manage multiple business pages. Okay, and its free.

Google Analytics – one of the best and free tools out there that provides real time web and application analytics reporting. Reports includes amount of traffic, traffic sources, bounce rates, errors, average time spent, to name just a few. Sign up with Google Analytics to begin using this kick-ass tool.

What other free business tools do you suggest?

#OGA – Don't Blink on Karishika Part 1

“The money and the fame now coming quicker... lord save me from Karishika …”

Karishika by Falz and Phyno. A well-liked song that appealed to the public was erupting from a pair of modern speakers in the VIP lounge of a four star hotel on a Sunday night.

Ade; a young man in his early twenties, dark in complexion with a chiseled face, slim, six-foot tall and a thick voice that made him sound older than he looked. He’s in the middle of a drinking session with two of his friends and Tiffany a girl he met tonight. The four have been drinking Vodka and Hennessy for over two hours.

David and Kola tagged along with Ade. These three were here to celebrate the conclusion of their first legit business deal. The commission was substantial and they had deducted a significant portion for balling and fun.

Ade muttered several curses under his breath. "Can we just finish this?"

"Oh yes," Tiffany purred as she moved closer to him again. "I'm going to finish my drink, all right."

He looked at her cautiously, nervousness in his eyes. Smart man.

She climbed onto the table gently pushing the drinks, cups and bucket out of her way and straddled his thighs.

It was going to kill her to take this nice and slow, but she was determined to have him begging before the night was up.

"What the hell are you doing, Tiffany?" Ade addresses the sexy lady in front of him.

Her palms met his abdomen and glided upward over his chest as she leaned over him.

She stared straight at him unflinchingly.

"You have two choices. You can shut up and not say a damn word until I'm done or we can move this thing of ours to somewhere private. In either case, I'm going to have my way."

He cocked one eyebrow as he stared up at her. "Bossy damn woman today. What's got into you?"
"Well, certainly not you," she grumbled.

He started to say something else, but she put her hand over his mouth and dragged him up. They get up and disappear within seconds making their way to the restroom where she shuts the door behind her one night stand…..

David and Kola are debating on what their friend is up to. “Its 12:44am already, these two love birds have been in there for quite some time.” David exclaimed pointing at his Rolex.

“What do you expect? A night like this has got to be perfect.”

“Wait; hold on, here she comes.”

Tiffany casually walks toward the table “Excuse me guys. I’m about to leave but I have to admit hanging out with you guys was a hell of fun” She gulps the Vodka left in her cup.

“It’s a pleasure. Do you live around here?” Kola asked

“No, I stay on the island. Lekki phase 1; to be precise. Let me give you my number. You can give me a call whenever you guys are less busy and having fun.” She gently strokes David’s shoulders and takes his phone from his hands.

“Alright, we’ll catch you later. By the way, where’s Ade?”

“Oh! He’s in the rest room. He’ll soon be out. Have a good night and tell Ade to call me.” Tiffany hugs each of the guys before exiting the building.

Meanwhile Ade does a double check on the rest room doors, then he un-wraps a piece of neatly folded brown paper to reveal a thin layer of an amber substance that looks like peanut brittle without the peanuts. This is butane hash oil (BHO), a highly concentrated version of marijuana. Using a thin titanium pick, he scrapes off a tiny piece of the tacky stuff and reaches for a dabbing rig. It looks like a small glass bong with an oversize titanium nail in place of a nail.

Ade flicks on the electric nail, a heating element that gets hot within seconds. Using the pick, he drops the dab of BHO onto the nail, where it instantly vaporizes. He sucks the resulting smoke through the pipe. The strongest pot smoked by habitual junkies might have a concentration of 15 or 20 percent tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana. But that dab just gave Ade a hit of 70 to 80 percent THC.

It starts with an increase in the pulsation of his heart, followed by a spike in his blood pressure. Ade’ legs start to tickle, his sweat glands begin to secret a salty fluid which protrudes from his face and slithers down his neck. For about six second his vision gets blurry and he becomes unaware of his environment. 20 seconds after THC was already binding to the receptors in his cerebellum and basal ganglia, parts of the brain that regulates balance, posture, coordination and reaction time. The world began to spin. But this wasn’t a night to get faded and wasted, besides he still had stuff he needed to do before tomorrow. He smokes his pot, rinses his faces, washes his hands and gets out of the restroom.

#OGA Pilot

Hi,

I’m exploring my creativity and attempting to improve my vocabulary. I have decided to write short stories of my adventures that have a moral lesson to be learnt. This short story series is titled “OG’s Adventures” in short #OGA. The stories will be based on real life experiences but I will add a little bit of sugar and a tiny pinch of pepper to spice the story up so you don’t know which part is fiction and which is non-fiction. I will be playing the protagonist under the pseudonym “Ade”. Feel free to post comments and ask questions regarding any topic that seems debatable.

#QGWDS Building Web Applications

Building a web application is slightly difficult. When you build it, you don’t know if people will use it, you don’t know how users will use it, people will not use your application the way you want them to use it. It’s almost impossible to build a web application once, upload it on the web and get it right the first time. Here are a few factors I’ll recommend you consider before you build your web application:

Spend less time thinking about and building your product at first.
When you want to start building a web application, don’t spend all your time thinking about all the features you will add to your application so it can be cool and awesome. Don’t spend one year building your app. You might think your app will be cool and awesome and everybody will want to use it. But the truth is; nobody cares about you #shit. Don’t guess that people will like it. People want to use products that they derive values and benefits from.
Here’s what you should do: Build your application in a month or less and release it so the world can use it, don’t be bothered about the bugs. Then use analytics software to monitor its performance, and how people respond to it, and use it.
Set an expectation you want your application to meet. After analyzing accurate analytics data; if your application meets up to your expectation them it’s worth developing and you should start upgrading and improving it straight away. On the other hand; if you application performs below you expectations and performs poorly, then you might need to pull the plug. But if you think it’s still worth doing then go ahead and do it.

Optimize for the end user
Think about what the end user will be clicking on, tapping, and interfacing with every step of the way. Your application should have a good navigation menu that will help people navigate through many pages. Go easy on the design; do not over design your application that it takes time to open or load on a device. Make your designs clean and simple. Go to Google and search for good web designs you can implement in you web app so that users will feel good and return to your web app next time.

Always instruct users on what to do
Never assume users will know what to do and where to do them. Only you can know how the application works at first glance since you created it. Always have instructions on several pages telling users what to do and how to use the features. Be a fan of big red buttons that say “Click here to do this”. Add tutorials, guides and FAQ’s in your application.

Have a Call To Action message in your application
You created your application for a reason and unless you say what it is, nobody will know. So always have a call to action message. Example: Sign up to receive free newsletters, Click here to download our mobile app, Invite your friends and get free storage space. Always have a call to action message in your application.

#QGWDS Quick Guide to Stand Out as a Web Designer

We kicking this series off with an introduction to Web design. How do you design an effective website?
Websites that appear shabby and cramped with a lot of information don’t appeal to a large population of web surfers.  These are the little things that count. Below I’ll list guidelines web designers should adhere to and step up your game.

1. Don’t cram too many things on one page. If you think you have to put too many things on your webpages, arrange them neatly and use browser scripting language such as jQuery to add effects to your webpage. Be creative with jQuery. An example is Facebook, on the homepage there are too many stuffs there, due brilliant design and programming whenever we open Facebook it just seems cool and not cramped.

2. Don’t use gimmicks such as animations and music to try to grab people attention. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying you should not create a website with animations, music or videos. You can do all those things but when you add those things to your website make sure they don’t slow the speed with which your webpages load and place media in creative positions.

3. Use colors wisely. Don’t place red text on a black background or yellow text on a blue background. Before you launch your website, go through all the pages and make sure they look good, not only in your eyes, but also ask your friends how it looks, if the majority don’t like it then you might want to consider going back to the drawing board and sketching  your designs again. If you cannot think of a good background to use on your webpage then just leave it as white because that’s better than using an odd background that doesn’t even match anything relating to your website.

4. Picture. Be careful with the way you use pictures. Too many pictures with large sizes make it difficult to open on low bandwidth devices like your mobile phone.   Most people are in a hurry and they won’t hesitate to close your website if takes them more than 15 seconds to open, so you should try to cut down on the amount of picture or the picture sizes you place on your website. Especially if your websites allows people to upload their own picture, then make sure you have a good program that cuts down the sizes of the pictures and it should also save the original picture so that you can show little thumbnails in the gallery and the single full sixed picture if people need to see the full picture.

5. Lastly it comes down to this; Money/Price. In cases where money’s involved don’t get cute and try to use design to hide the price from people. You might think you are wise but others would see it as mischief. Don’t do it.

There you have it, five guidelines you should adhere to while designing your website. Design is about rendering vital information through an effective and friendly user interface.

The Outskirt Entrepreneur

I'm juiced up this August and i have a lot on my plate. I've got Oracle Database Exams next month so i have to study hard (you see that textbook up, plus 2 identical books to read), in addition i'm aiming to grow my company substantially this month  (Droparena Global Ltd, a web development company - www.drag.com.ng). But back to you, let's talk real.

Majority of people have these bogus ideas in their heads of what it is to be an entrepreneur, how exciting it is to be a business owner and be called...... wait for it.... A CEO. Now permit me to use this opportunity and set the records straight. Here is what i think.

Entrepreneur is what it is - a title with a lot of responsibilities and rewards attached to it.

In this life you are handed lots of titles and you stick with the one that fits you. Being an entrepreneur is just like every other title. The only difference is that you must be willing to put in 100% of yourself into whatever you are doing, you have to stay focused and you have to be willing to do what it takes. All the things i just listed, you don't get it once; NO. You try, you fail, you try again until you become the title.

Everybody wants to make it in this life. The moment you decide to take up this title, you are going to be doing so many things that will keep you busy everytime as you work towards achieving your goals. The idea of making it will seem obscure and far fetched because the sky is only the beginning. And believe me the sky is a far distance from the ground. But as you move along your entrepreneural journey don't forget to pause, look back and take note of how you have grown up and gone up.

Final note, cut the bullshit and get your act together. Life is a game, the quality of your living depends on how well you play the game. Entrepreneur is a title like every other claim. Master Mind: When Friends Turn To Anchors

So a friend phoned me recently and asked “Obinna, abeg how you dey take deal with friends who just want to hangout, gist about girls, drink booze, club and talk about their dreams all day? And yet nobody puts in effort to turn their dreams to reality.”
The phone line was silent for about 10 second because, honestly; I was surprised that he phoned to ask me that question; maybe he thinks I’m Doctor Phil, Steve Harvey or a professional counselor... I don’t know? But I guess that’s the current dilemma he’s in now.
A lot of us find ourselves in similar situation, including me. The good thing is that majority of us realize this dilemma early enough. But realizing is the easy part; it gets harder when you try to pull yourself out from whatever unproductive clique or group that you are associated with and find a good and motivating clique to roll with.
Friendship a beautiful thing, but it can also be useless, especially when your friend is an anchor that holds you back when you try to move forward. Good thing that friendship isn’t compulsory. Study the people you roll with. Fuck with those people that inspire and motivate you to become a better person. You can tell your lousy friends to ‘Go fuck themselves.’ Or if you have the time and energy you can try to motivate and build them (Note: I’ve tried this and it worked like 1 out of 10 times. I don’t have the luxury of time now to do that.)
Don’t be scared of being a one man wolf pack when you disassociate yourself from unproductive people. Put in 100% of your effort into achieving you goals while you are alone. Don’t try to make friends or impress anybody. Make money and be successful, friends will show up when the party starts.
Learn to watch out for good and gingered people, these are the people that talk about ideas, their goals, plans and the actions they are taking to achieve their goals. Watch out for these kinds of people and establish a mutual relationship with them.
There’s this concept of having a Master Mind Group. I have mine. The “Master Mind” may be defined as “Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose. There’s this popular saying “Two heads are better than one.” Very True!
You stand to gain a lot when you associate and work with like-minded people. The economic benefit is obvious. Economic advantages may be created by any person who surrounds himself with the advice, counsel and personal cooperation of a group of men who are willing to lend him wholeheartedly aid, in a spirit of perfect harmony.
Matthew 18:20 – For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the midst of them.
Know that no two minds ever come together without, thereby, creating a third, invisible, intangible force which may be likened to a third mind. It is a well-known fact that a group of electric batteries will provide more energy than a single battery. It is also a well-known fact that an individual battery will provide energy in proportion to the number and capacity of the cell it contains. Your brain functions in a similar manner.
Take out time to analyze the record of anybody you know who is successful and has accumulated great fortune, and you will find that they have either consciously or unconsciously employed the Master Mind Principle. Do your research and you’ll find out that this guy – Henry Ford – his most rapid strides became noticeable, from the time he became a personal friend with Thomas A. Edison, and you will begin to understand what the influence of one mind upon another can accomplish.
Find people who share identical vibes and visions with you and fuck with them big time. Form your Master Mind Group. Kindly leave comments and share this post on your social media accounts if you find this article helpful.
